Unlock a Property

Every property has a Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN). If the property address does not match the exact address registered with ordinance survey then it will appear as a locked property.

Identifying the Property

You can identify a ‘Locked property’ by the padlock icon.

 

Unlocking the Property 

  1. Select the property that you wish to unlock.


     
  2. Re-enter the postcode of the property, click ‘Search’ and then select the address that best matches your property from the drop-down list. ​



  3. Select ‘Verify’ and this will unlock the property. Any chain information or milestone information will update overnight and be available to view the following morning. 

Key Points:

  • If the property is a plot and you’re certain the address is correct but cannot see it on the list, please contact support@viewmychain, and we will add the address for you.
  • If you are selling multiple dwellings under one record, please contact us. In this scenario we can create a fictitious address for you. This will allow you to work from the Listing as usual in VMC, but note that automated milestone information may not be available for this specific link, as the record lacks a UPRN. Any transactions above or below this link will still have milestone/chain info and function normally.
